From the Times Leader: “Tattoos cover more than half of his body and include an angel killing a demon and Jesus on the cross. He considers part of his work to be spreading the message that tattoos don’t harm a person’s faith but offer a way to present a gospel message.”

The article goes on to say that Steve is the president of the Christian Tattoo Association which has 850 members from around the world.

Man wins $150k from employeers over religious tattoos

Filed under: Tattoos, Religious Tattoos — AJ @ 8:29 am

This one is from Business and Legal Reports.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc. has agreed to pay $150,000 to settle a religious-discrimination lawsuit alleging the company refused to offer an accommodation to an employee who had religious inscriptions in the form of tattoos on his wrists.

The employee was a member of an ancient Egyptian religion know as the Kemetic Orthodox Faith. He had Kemetic tattoos on his hands & he was required not to hide him. His employer said otherwise and in the process violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

To learn more about the Kemetic Orthadoxy visit kemet.org. Interestingly we could not find anything about tattoos at this site.

If you are interested in your legal rights concerning tattoos and the workplace I recommend that you read this page at gcglaw: Tattoos & Body Piercing: Avoiding Employment Discrimination Claims.

A few notable points: Workplace requirements for tattoos and body piercing can not be different for males and females. If you are a member of the KKK you probably won’t get away with claiming religious descrimination.
