Inked on TLC is more about drama than tattoos

Filed under: Tattoo TV Shows — AJ @ 1:09 pm

The new tattoo reality TV shows looked interesting to me. Unfortunately, they seem more about employee drama in personal relationships than tattoos.

This is a real dissapointment when that same level of drama can be achieved with nearly any other reality TV show. If thats what I want, I’ll watch Real World Austin — but its not.

Shows such as American Chopper and American Hot Rod seem to do a much better job of capturing what everything is really about. Sure, the “drama” is still there, but at the end of the day the show is about to chopper or the hotrods — and they are damn nice at that.

Maybe I am missing something. To me Inked seems like 80% drama 20% tattoos. At least make it half and half.

Inked blows. The owner isn’t tattooed and they treat their apprentice like crap. They’re just a bunch of lifestylers with money.

We watch Miami Inked at our shop.

There are more tattoos involved in Survivor than there is on Inked. Ink is a non-stop drama show that needs to change its’ named to “psycho people covered in tattoos”. This show is not worth my eyesight. If you do a show on tattoos, make it about tattoos.

One of our artists was on the show when it first started (beat out 1500 people to get the spot). I agree hands down! This show is about drama. I used to be hooked on Miami Ink for awhile because I really like the vibe of the shop. Kat is an amazing role model for other female artists and who can argue that Chris Garver is a phenomenal artist! A positive image of our industry is nice to see displayed on TV especially since the other show that we have out portrays us as such jackasses! We have a couple of clients that are schedule to go down and get some ink with them so i was able to find out that they are charging a minimum shop fee of $500.00! Thats gangsta! However, I would like to see an episode or two where they get “typical clients”. You know the ones that negotiate the prices and seay things like “How much for that piece of flash? $150.00! What can I get for $60.00?” or the ones that decided that they want cherries tattooed on their neck only to come back and have it covered. LOL or how about the crackhead that wants to exchange some ink or a piercing for a rock. LOL
