Tattoos not wrong, says paster
From the Times Leader: “Tattoos cover more than half of his body and include an angel killing a demon and Jesus on the cross. He considers part of his work to be spreading the message that tattoos don’t harm a person’s faith but offer a way to present a gospel message.”
The article goes on to say that Steve is the president of the Christian Tattoo Association which has 850 members from around the world.

This is a pretty cool little blog. ^_^ Couldn’t find a contact to the author, so just writing it here. Lots of neat info. Thanks!

As a committed Christian I wouldn’t say that tattoos are total right, either. The body is the “temple” in which God lives. We are to care for our bodies. A tastefully designed tatoo in a sensible place is not out of order, but the excesses some people go to is an abuse, in my opinion.
Oh, and by the way, in this context the correct spelling is Pastor!

You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.
Remember that we are not under the Law anymore (Gentiles never were). Also, know that the New Covenant isn’t really easier. Before, we were pretty much judged by only actions. But Jesus said that if you look at a woman with lust in your heart, then you already committed adultery. That’s tough.
I don’t think tattoos are inherently sinful. I think everything is good, but can be used for evil. That goes for clothes, food, our bodies, everything.

to april mcmurray ….I am like you…I wanted to get a tatoo with my duaghters name just because and I really like tatoos (self expression)
I saw you were looking for confirmation of what is right vs wrong with tattooing …
Just imagine you get your daughter the cutest outfit and it happens to be very expensive and she wears it for the first time to school, well, while playing, ruins it and you can never get her another one even close to the one she just ruined…..
how would you feel? (just to get ya thinkin)
I can’t speak for anyone else but I would be very angry probably even dissapointed. (yes only clothes but maybe I worked extra hours to get the outfit i would have otherwise not been able to afford)
The point is what if God felt that way and took it as you messing or ruining something (your body) very valuable & special to him.
Just remember that God did not mess up when HE made you. If you were supposed to have one I beleive God would have tatted you in the womb (LOL). True it is a very positive message and things done in moderation may be okay for some topics….but
The physical love day in and day out towards your daughter is sign enough of your love and dedication to her. When you die and your body is gone….How will she see your tribute to her? But if you take that same “will endure pain to show how important she is to you” attitude and invest in her nurturing she can dwell on that forever.
Sorry for the story but as I prayed about getting a tattoo or not because of the fear of “making God angry” I ran across this blog.
that’s enough from me….here’s what God has to say:
Romans 12:2-(new living translation)
” Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.
that God sees you as an extremely valuable & precious commodity.
Take care and hope this sheds some light on the situation for you.

in the old testament it says that it is a sin to cut or harm the body because it was His temple, but if you believe that Jesus Christ is God’s son, then when He died the old testament was destroyed therefore wiping out most of the old testament laws, Jesus said to reach out to the lost souls, and if tattoos reach out to certain people how can it be a sin? the Pastor and youth minister at my mom’s church wants me to give them tattoos whenever i get a chance to make it down there way, they even invited me to set up a booth at one of their big revival festival things…hope that helps….

Don`t be put off by the Lev 19;28 in regards to a tat2.I am a believer,a disciple of Jesus Christ and have 4 tats that proclaim my faith. The old testamrnt laws also forbid, shaving sideburns, not eating certain meats,no wearing diff types of clothing.Express your faith in Christ in every way that you can,but if in any doubt, wait and pray in regards to getting a tat2.

there is nothing in this world that is inherently evil. it’s only if you use something for an evil purpose that it becomes so. Revelation 19:11-16 in the bible says that jesus christ has 2 tattoos: ‘a name written on him that no one knows but he himself’ and, ‘king of kings and lord of lords’. i love the fact that you can be yourself and be a christian too.

To April, that posted #3, I hope that is not your real phone number.. You should know better than that sht. Im getting on to you as a christian.
As for me and my christian brothers and sisters we have the discussion about tats all the time.. Part in which becuase they almost all have them. My roomate has a Dragon that covers his back. When I see it, !, well I make no judgement becuase of who he is.. I know him. He’s faithful and does right in Gods eyes’. Now picture it if you did’nt know him.. ?
I think it is a light to others in the since in seeing how he is even with such a mark on him. People can wonder what and how with that can god move in his life, touching both nonbelievers and believers. And following that, they can feel compelled to grasp what it is we have. Part of the population that’s not christians and even some who are are convinced that the christians live boring lifestyles! Sorry, no we don’t. We live purposefully. Half the time we fulfilled our wildside and then came to our sinces. Besides, Nothing else matters except.. Love, this is said over and over again. Whatever else you might as well kiss it goodbye.
So as to the old testiment, if we were under such laws, my head would not be shaved. Would god really burden you with this. What is the Tat of? It is your conviction as to how it will affect you.. As humans we plan to sin.. yeh we do, think about it. But Christians are forgiven.. we are human. we are small and stupid. Everyone’s conviction is diffent. God will use you so long as you accept that. Pray about it.

This is to the ladies, shaynna and april. Its wonderful you think of your child that much to engrave her on your body. The bible talks of not cutting or damaging the temple of the holy ghost which is in turn, your body. How can you debate over a tattoo if you have earrings, belly ring, etc. These are all forms of cutting and scarring right? So I say if you want a tattoo..GO 4 IT!! Just like my man bruce said your Lord and Savior has tattoos also. That makes me feel better about mine
Just one more thing to remember, these bodies are just temps baby. On that glorious day we, beleivers, will be transformed with new bodies!!! Get that tattoo woman.

do people not realise that tattoing your skin is no longer a print on flesh? it is a form of art to mark people as indivisuals and they have a story of the life the art is placed upon.

I happen to believe that when god made us a few flaws went with. nothing and noone is perfect. to think that is your flaw. so at this point i’d say whatever floats your boat. if you want ink cool if not that’s cool too.
i happen to have five tattoos already and i have no plans to stop now. the only thing that would do that is lack of money and no more room for the ink. =)
bottom line is do what you want not what others tell you to.
